TONE 2010 Maine Cruise
TONE 2010 Maine Cruise
Dinner sign up information (new July 14, 2010)
We have now established the prices for the dinners in Castine and Southwest Harbor. Dinner in Boothbay will be on an ad hoc basis. Please send
this form with your check to Mike Musen no later than July 28, 2010 so that we may give the restaurants an accurate head count shortly thereafter. Also, seating is limited at Fiddler's Green. In the unlikely event that it fills up, the earliest paid reservations will have priority.
We're looking forward to seeing everyone in Maine! The water is reportedly warmer than usual this year.
Previously posted information on dockage, etc.
TONE is pleased to provide additional details for its 2010 Maine Cruise. Here you will find links to the
itinerary and various sign up forms.
As space fills quickly, it is important that you ensure that you have dockage or mooring reservations if you plan on joining us in Boothbay, Castine or Southwest Harbor. TONE will also be making arrangements for the dinner on August 15 at Fiddler's Green in Southwest Harbor; details are pending.
You should take the following steps if you are planning on participating in the Maine Cruise:

TONE has been conducting Maine cruises every two years since the 1990s. The 2010 cruise builds upon the best aspects of the 2006 and 2008 cruises, and is designed to provide more opportunities for group camaraderie, whether in the form of dinner raft ups in one of Maine's many idyllic harbors, or dinner ashore in a delightful Maine town. In past years, we've had approximately 20 boats participating, some coming from as far away as the Chesapeake.
The highlight of the cruise will be a two night gathering at Dysarts Marina in Southwest Harbor from Sunday August 15 through Tuesday August 17, with a dinner Sunday night. We encourage all participants to join us in Southwest Harbor. Other highlights in which participation is encouraged include the first gathering at Carousel Marina in Boothbay on Tuesday August 10, Castine on Friday, August 13, and for those not rushing back to work or heading further east, Camden on Thursday, August 19. Hone your racing skills; we're planning a a race from Castine through the Eggemoggin reach on Saturday, August 14, with trophies to be awarded at the dinner in Southwest Harbor.
The cruise is structured to enable those coming from as far away as Eastern Connecticut to complete the cruise in two weeks (from Friday, August 6 through Sunday, August 22). Such a schedule includes a direct overnight leg from Onset to Boothbay, leaving Monday morning, August 9, and harbor hopping on return from Southwest Harbor. For those wanting to go further east, or linger for a longer time around Mt. Desert Island or Penobscot Bay, your stay in Maine could easily be extended to three weeks or more, with arrival back well before Labor Day, Monday September 6.
As in past years, participants are free to leave or join the cruise at any point and the harbors in the itinerary are suggestions only; with multiple options for some nights. As our planning progresses, we'll be providing more details on suggested ports for particular nights, as well as information on dockage and meal arrangements.
